Dubbed by Variety as a “major talent”, Jasmin Mozaffari is an award-winning Toronto-based film & television writer/director.

Her debut feature, FIRECRACKERS, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018. Firecrackers won Best Film at the Stockholm International Film Festival and Jasmin took home the award for Best Director at the Canadian Screen Awards. In 2019, FIRECRACKERS was released theatrically in Canada and the US to rave reviews. Peter Debruge (Variety) compared Jasmin to a “young Andrea Arnold”, the film was named a New York Times Critic’s Pick and was further celebrated by The LA Times, Vulture (Best Films of 2019), New York Magazine, and The Hollywood Reporter. 

Jasmin’s most recent short film, MOTHERLAND, won Best Canadian Short Film at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, Best Drama at Aspen Shortsfest, and Best Live Action Short Drama and Best Performance in a Live Action Short at the Canadian Screen Awards. Based on her parents story, MOTHERLAND follows an Iranian immigrant in the US during the height of the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

In 2024, Jasmin was invited to participate in the International Film Academy in Bolgna, Italy under the mentorship of Oscar nominated & Golden Globe winner, Andrey Zvyagintsev.

Jasmin also directs episodic television for networks like Netflix, CBC, PBS, and HULU.
